You can get to the Wildacres Flute Retreat by car or you may choose to fly:

If you plan to fly, Asheville, NC is the closest airport, which is 65 miles from Wildacres Retreat. We ask everyone to arrive before 3:00 PM on the day the course begins (June 20) and to not book flights out before noon on the day we leave (June 27). We will provide rides from the Asheville Airport to Wildacres for $45 each way.

If you decide to fly into Charlotte, you will need to rent a car. Sometimes people pool together to do this, and find the money saved on less expensive flights pays for the rental. There is the advantage of having a car while at Wildacres. It is a 2 1/2 hour drive from Charlotte to Wildacres.

If you plan to drive, from the I-40 take the Marion exit north on route 226/221. You will pass highway 70, and a couple of miles after that there will be a traffic light at the junction where routes 226 and 221 divide. Turn left on route 226.

1.1 miles later is the 226/226A juncture. Turn left, which will put you on the 226A. Now the road will get very curvy. Travel for 6.5 miles until you see the Wildacres sign on the left. Turn left on the gravel road and go to the top of the mountain. You will see the Wildacres Retreat sign on the right. Turn right and drive until you come to the parking lot.

From the Blue Ridge Parkway, turn at Gooch Gap, which is between mileposts 336 and 337. Follow the Wildacres signs.
